The University of East London’s Fine Art Department has a long tradition with experimental film, and the current 16mm facilities were originally sourced and developed, 30 years ago by John Smith and David Parsons, as North East London Polytechnic.
The Lawley Debrie Processor was bought in 1982 from a Ministry of Defence auction in mint condition.

Bea Haut and Karel Doing ran a Black and white 16mm processing service in the facility from 2015 to 2019
